'One night stay'
"We stayed on the Saturday night over the Bank Holiday and it had been booked as a treat for our son's 8th birthday. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had booked a family room, which was small, but adequate. I had earlier asked for a table to be decorated with balloons and a cake provided for our son's birthday. This was done without any fuss and was a great surprise to our son! The food was excellent for both the evening meal and the breakfast, the evening meal being good value for money. The location of the hotel was very good, only being a few minutes walk to the seafront - to which we went in the evening and enjoyed the funfair set up for the Bank Holiday. Would recommend it."

'holiday'
"We were all very pleased with the accomodation the buffet breakfast was very tasty and filling it was our first trip to Torquay and we had a very enjoyable experience. The evening entertainment was quite good and at the end of a few hectic days it was nice to relax and unwind. The staff are very friendly and helpful. A very enjoyable experience all round."

'Would stay there again'
"This was our second visit to the Rainbow and we would definitely stay there again. The food was good; the staff friendly. Our room was spacious, clean but a little worn in places. The food was good and plentiful; only criticism being lack of variety of desserts on the one evening that we dined in. Would suggest seagull spikes to be erected on the balconies as we were disturbed by their cries every morning at about 5.30 until they decided to fly away! On the whole the Rainbow is a good base, very convenient, near to the sea front and local amenities."

'Honeymoon'
"The hotel was very clean and tidy, although a little old fashioned, and in a convenient location, The staff were excellent, very polite and helpful. The self service breakfast was also good. And nice to have evening entertainment. The one problem was the heat, it was an exceptionally hot week, but there were no fans and the hotel could do with air conditioning, as in the entertainments room, it was very uncomfortable at times. We would go again! ,"

'nice place,but way to hot!!!'
"when looking online at the hotel,it was advertised as suitable for stag and hen parties,so thought it would be ideal for myself and 12 female friends. on arrival it was clear we were the youngest there, and most of us in our forties!!! it should be advertised as suitable for over sixties!! the rooms where clean and big, however the whole hotel was extremely hot and it made it difficult to sleep. The breakfast was good, however when asking a member of staff if she had salt, she replied,i don t speak English!!!! not really the best in an English hotel!! It was ok for 80 pound for two nights, but doubtful to stay again."

'Excellent Service'
"Could not fault a thing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and hot. Everywhere was clean and tidy. Our room was spacious and on the ground floor. Good sized bathroom. Very good location. But car park was difficult after a long day out."

'Honeymooners return'
"Returned to the Rainbow for one night thirty two years after our honeymoon! Evening entertainment was excellent, Club Rainbow was really nice. Breakfast was first class as were all the staff. Won't leave it another thirty two years! On the down side the hot water was only just warm maybe due to it being peak period for demand?"

'Better than anticipated'
"I thought the hotel was just fine. The room was adequate and the bed was very comfortable. The room was tired and in need of updating but that said it was clean and tidy. There was plenty of teas coffees etc and all in all quite welcoming. We paid extra for the evening meals and these too were good value being, soup to star then a carvery with a selection of desserts. They also had daily specials and apparently the rogan josh was very good. Stayed here for psychic event and will do so again next time the event is on."
